Purpose:
To evaluate narrowing of arteries in patients who have shortness of breath and chest discomfort but are unable to exercise on a treadmill.

How it works:
• A medication is given in the hand or arm that causes the coronary arteries to dilate. This dilation of the coronary arteries increases blood flow and is very similar to the response of the arteries during exercise.
• After the radionuclide is injected, the gamma camera will take pictures of the heart while the person lies still on a table.
